Introduction
In Psalm 18:25-26, the psalmist says:" With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful; with an upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright; with the pure thou wilt shew thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt shew thyself froward."
This powerful verse reveals a spiritual principle: God manifests Himself to us according to how we present ourselves to Him. If you approach Him in joy, comfort, or faith, He will be the God of comfort and joy to you. However, if you come in fear or complaint, that is how you will perceive and experience Him.

Paul reiterates this in 2 Corinthians 13:11:"Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you."
Throughout the Bible, God is revealed with many attributes—God of peace, God of joy, God of mercies, God of vengeance, and more. He will present Himself as the God of your situation, depending on how you choose to approach Him. This means that your mindset shapes your encounter with God in every situation you may be.
Key Lessons on Approaching God the Right Way
1. Your Mindset Shapes Your Encounter with God
God responds according to the way you present yourself. If you approach Him with comfort, peace, and joy, He will manifest Himself that way to you. If you focus on your fears or complaints, you will encounter a side of God that reflects those emotions.
In Luke 16:12, Jesus teaches:" And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man's, who shall give you that which is your own?"
This shows that faithfulness, peace, and comfort in your mindset invite God’s love and presence.
2. Complaining and Murmuring Repel God’s Favor
God despises murmuring. The Israelites faced severe punishment for murmuring against Moses, as referenced in 1 Corinthians 10:10:"Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer."
Murmuring reflects a lack of faith. Even in difficult situations, we are called to approach God with hope and speak the solution—not magnify the problem.
3. Pray the Solution, Not the Problem
It’s important to focus on what you want, not what you are going through. The Bible encourages us to say, “Let the weak say I am strong, and let the poor say I am rich.” (Joel 3:10). God responds to faith, not emotional pleas.
Though Hannah cried for years for a child, her breakthrough came when she stopped complaining and prayed with faith, focusing on God’s promise.
4. Speak to Your Situation, Not About It
Jesus instructed His disciples to speak to the mountain: If you shall say to this mountain, ‘Be thou removed,’ it shall be done." (Mark 11:23).
Stop dressing up your problem—start addressing it. Call your situation by the name you want it to be. Faith is calling things that are not as though they are (Romans 4:17). What you say will eventually manifest.
5. Think on Noble Things to Mirror God's Presence
Paul tells us how to set our minds right in Philippians 4:8:"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."
When your heart and mind are filled with positive, noble thoughts, you invite God’s presence and favor. As Proverbs 23:7 says, “As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.”
Summary List
Your Mindset Shapes Your Encounter with God: Present yourself with faith, and God will respond with favor.
Murmuring Repels God: Avoid complaints; approach God with trust and hope.
Pray the Solution, Not the Problem: Magnify God’s promises, not your challenges.
Speak to Your Situation: Address your problems in faith and declare God’s promises.
Think on Noble Things: Keep your mind on truth, purity, and faith to attract God’s blessings.
Conclusion
Even though God is the God of every situation, the way you approach Him determines how you experience Him. If your mind is filled with fear, doubt, or negativity, you will see God through that lens. But if you fill your heart with faith, praise, and noble thoughts, you will encounter God as the God of miracles, peace, and joy.
The choice is yours—will you magnify the problem or the solution? Will you dress your situation or address it? Start today by thinking, speaking, and acting in faith, and watch God show up in ways that exceed your expectations.
Prayer: Father, help me approach You with faith, not fear. Teach me to speak life into my situation and pray with a solution-focused heart. Let my thoughts be pure and noble, reflecting trust in You. Strengthen my faith to call things that are not as though they are, and may Your presence manifest powerfully in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
