The Jericho March is a seven-day spiritual warfare exercise patterned after Israel's encounter at Jericho and God's supernatural intervention. The exercise is for believers confronting a stubborn stronghold or wall standing in the way of what God has promised or given them.
But Israel did not simply arrive at Jericho and begin marching. Before the battle, there was preparation.

A Jericho-style battle is not a lightweight spiritual confrontation. Stubborn walls and strongholds do not always yield to ordinary approaches. Some require a specific kind of warfare.
You may already have done everything you know to do. You have prayed.
You have fasted. You have sought counsel. You have changed strategies.
You have moved from church to church, from pastor to pastor, from one prayer mountain to another.

About the Jericho Wall
The city of Jericho itself was not the obstacle to Israel entering the Promised Land God already gave them. It was the wall surrounding it.
The Bible described Jericho as a fortified city. Its walls were massive, thick enough to carry houses built along the top and strong enough to have withstood every army that came against it. For the city to be conquered, the wall first had to come down.
But most of the men of war in Israel that fought many battles earlier had died in the wilderness; the new generation had no experience of war. It was clear that Israel could not bring down that wall by their own strength or by their military might; they needed a supernatural intervention of a specific type of warfare strategy which they did not have.
This is what distinguishes a Jericho stronghold from an ordinary difficulty. And this is important so you don't mistake every stubborn wall or confrontation in your life as a Jericho wall.
A Jericho wall is not simply a perceived situation, unbroken covenant, oppression or something unpleasant,. It is a specific and persistent obstruction standing in the way of something you believe God has already promised or given you.
Why The Jericho March?
Some walls do not fall except for a specific type of prayer.
If you are facing a battle that has resisted prayer for a long time. A siege that that is standing between you and your testimony, or a stubborn wall that have refused to fall despite all manner of prayer, you might be facing a Jericho Wall type of battle. Such battles require specific, not generic type of warfare.
In the Gospels, the disciples faced a type of deliverance of casting out a demon in a boy. They failed despite several attempts. These were men who had prayed before. They had cast out demons before. They were not strangers to spiritual authority.
Yet this particular confrontation resisted what had worked in other situations. It seemed to mock their anointing and embarrass them publicly. When Jesus came, He delivered the boy and revealed a spiritual truth:
“And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.” (Mark 9:29, Matthew 17:21).
The important words are: “This kind.”
Many have interpretedJesus' words about "prayer and fasting" for deliveerance to mean that it is the to every deliverance. That is true in part. But knowing that you should pray and fast is one thing. Knowing the kind of prayer and fasting required for a particular confrontation is another.
Isaiah 58 reveals the same principle from another direction. Israel had fasted. They had afflicted their souls, yet nothing happened. They even "accused" God of not honoring the prayer and fasting He commanded which they obeyed diligently. They said:
“Wherefore have we fasted, say they, and thou seest not? wherefore have we afflicted our soul, and thou takest no knowledge?” (Isaiah 58:3)
When God revealed the fast He chose for that situation in Isaiah 58 from verse 6. It was totally different. They indeed fasted, but not the kind of fast God had chosen.
The issue was not that they did not obey, but as James reveals that believers can "pray amiss," it is evidenced that believers can also fast "amiss."
Paul likewise acknowledged this when he said in Romans 8:26: “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought...”
This is one of the principles behind the Jericho March.
Many believers have sincerely prayed and fasted concerning stubborn situations, yet the wall remains. Sometimes the answer is not simply more of the same prayer.
There is a need to discern: What kind of confrontation is this, and what is God requiring concerning it? Specific confrontations can require specific spiritual responses.

Deliverance Requires a Precise Blueprint
To confront Jericho wall, God gave Joshua a warfare strategy, not of chariots, horses, or swords, but priests, the Ark of the Covenant, trumpets, and to march in silence and in circuits for six days. And on the seventh day shout!
God chose a march, not an army. Israel could never have invented that even by the best of their priests and military chiefs. And because the instruction came from God, the details mattered.
They obeyed and carried out the blueprint precisely as God gave them. And as they did, God intervened.
This is central to the Jericho March. A specific wall may require a specific blueprint, and when God gives the instruction, total obedience is required.
Before You March, You Must Prepare
Many desire victory over stubborn walls standing in front of them and they are ready to march. But Israel didn't start with a march.
Before they faced the wall, they fulfilled covenant.
Before the battle, there was consecration.
That is why your Jericho March should not begin with just marching around your wall simply because Israel marched and received deliverance.
It begins with preparing the person who will march.
Before you take the first step, you must understand what you are confronting, why you are marching, what covenant you must settle, and what God is requiring of you.
Covenant comes before confrontation.
Before you begin the March, you must learn the foundational principle of covenant spiritual warfare. Because the seceret of the of the Lord is with them that fear Him.

Before you undertake the actual seven-day March, you need the preparation.

Before You Decide to March
The Jericho March is not for every problem. Israel did not use the Jericho strategy against every city they encountered. Jericho was a specific confrontation. Before you proceed, three things must therefore become clear.
A Specific Wall
Israel marched around Jericho. A specific city. A specific wall. A specific obstruction standing in the way of the land God had already given them.
Your Jericho must likewise be identifiable.
Do not gather every difficulty in your life and call them all Jericho.
What is the wall?
What exactly is it obstructing?
And what gives you reason to believe that what lies beyond it is something God has promised, appointed, given, or placed before you?
These questions must be settled.
A Specific Covenant
Israel did not invent what happened at Jericho. God told them what to do.
The seven-day Jericho March gives you the biblical warfare pattern through which you will confront your wall, but you must also seek the Lord for His specific dealings with you within that pattern.
Your wall is specific. Your covenant dealings may be specific. Your instructions may also contain things particular to your own confrontation.
You must therefore remain spiritually attentive throughout the journey.
A Specific Blueprint
Israel did not confront Jericho outside covenant. Before they came to the wall, they renewed covenant. You must likewise be in covenant relationship with God through Jesus Christ before undertaking the March. If you have never entered that covenant through the new birth, this is where you must begin. If you are already born again, your covenant is already established in Christ
The covenant is not optional in the preparation process. The next concern is consecration and renewal of heart. These are part of the journey toward the wall.
Count the Cost Before You Begin
The Jericho March is not for fascination. It is not for trial. It is not something to begin merely because you are curious to see whether it works.
It is a seven-day spiritual warfare exercise requiring discipline, commitment, sacrifice, and focused devotion. Once you begin, you should be prepared to complete the journey.
If you know that you are not presently able to give the seven days the attention and commitment they require, wait. Prepare first.
There is no virtue in beginning what you are not prepared to finish.

The Jericho March is a spiritual warfare exercise undertaken by faith. The outcome and timing will not necessarily be the same for every participant.
Some victories may become visible immediately. Others may begin as clarity, conviction, healing, endurance, restoration, a practical decision, an opened door, or a process that continues beyond the seventh day.
If you are under medical care, experiencing an acute mental health crisis, or walking through severe trauma, undertake this journey alongside appropriate medical, mental health, pastoral, or professional support, not as a replacement for it.
Frequently Asked Question
Q: Do I have to fast from food?
Not necessarily. Many choose to fast from specific foods, but others fast from social media, entertainment, or a particular habit. The devotional will help you seek the Lord about what kind of consecration is wise and safe in your situation. If you have any health condition, please speak with your doctor before fasting from food.
Q: What if I miss a day?Do not begin until you are prepared to complete the seven days uninterrupted. If an unavoidable interruption occurs, the Workbook should explain how to proceed.
Q: Can we do this as a group or church?
Yes. Many people find it helpful to journey together, while still each naming their own Jericho. You are free to use this as a guide for small groups, couples, or prayer teams.
Q: Is this only for Christians?
This journey is rooted completely in Scripture and in the finished work of Jesus Christ. It is written for those who have trusted Him as Lord and Savior. If you are exploring faith and are not sure where you stand, this may still stir your heart, but I would encourage you to first settle the question of following Christ Himself.
Q: What if nothing seems to change after seven days?
There are times when God works quietly and below the surface. The absence of immediate visible change does not mean nothing happened. If you walk this journey in sincerity, you can trust that the Lord has heard you and will lead you into next steps. Sometimes He may invite you to repeat the march, seek counsel, or make practical decisions that align with what He showed you.
