From Bondage to Purpose: How Jesus Brings Freedom

Would you rather be tied down by a wicked task master out there in the sun come rain, come shine, or be a vessel of honor to Jesus taking him to every place he goes to show forth and demonstrate his glory and power, so that as he his glorified every where he goes, you’d be that vessel taking him there, you’d be the colt that he rides?

In Mark 11:2-3, Jesus told His disciples, to “go into the village... and as soon as you enter, you will find a colt tied, on which no one has sat. Loose it and bring it."

This colt had been tied down perhaps for several years, but a power greater than the power that tied it down gave a command for it to be set free. This is because this colt had a date with destiny and the Lord has need of it.

The colt was translated from bondage to purpose.

However, you’d notice that the colt was not just being set free to go on its own and enjoy its life, it was set free for a divine purpose, and the purpose was to glorify Jesus. So are you! You have been set free for a divine purpose, to glorify Jesus!

Bees at work

The Bible says in 1Peter 2:9, “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that you should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” You have been chosen and set free and made to be a peculiar person so that you can show forth the praise, glory, wonder, and power of Jesus.

"If the Son therefore shall make you free, you shall be free indeed" (John 8:36).

Just like many people that were healed during the time of Jesus, Jesus tells them to go and tell everyone how they have been set free by the mercy and power of God, you also are designed for divine purpose, and for that purpose to take effect, the power of Jesus is coming to you to set you free from every power that has tied you down in life, so that you can fulfill that purpose. That power is breaking every bondage of the enemy in your life and translating you from bondage to purpose.

However, you must remember that your freedom from bondage to purpose is not so that you can go and enjoy your own life, it is so that Jesus can live his life in you.

This is what Paul means in Gal 2:20 when he says, “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”

Just as you are looking for freedom in life, God is looking for a vehicle and a vessel to convey his power and mercy to the dying and decaying world. God is looking for a voice for those who are lost. He is looking for someone who will stand in the gap and go for him. He is looking for a colt that he would ride into the temple and be glorified. Will you be that person? Whose servant would you rather be?

If you are tied down and in any bondage to a slave master of addiction, sickness, failure, hate, unforgiveness and so on, you are no good to him, that is why he will first lose you from the wicked masters and powers that have tied you down, so that you can be of use to him for his glory.

Remember the words of Jesus in Mat 11:30, “For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Would you rather be tied down by a wicked task-master out there in the sun come rain, come shine, or be a vessel of honor to Jesus taking him to every place he goes to show forth and demonstrate his glory and power, so that as he his glorified every where he goes, you’d be that vessel taking him there, you’d be the colt that he rides?

David says in Psalm 84:10, “For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.” That sounds like a reasonable choice to me but whose servant would you rather be?

I would rather be translated from bondage to purpose than to loose my purpose to a task master through ignorance. If the Lord has set you free, why should you remain bound?

"If the Son therefore shall make you free, you shall be free indeed" (John 8:36).

PRAYER from Bondage to Purpose

Father, I receive freedom from every power that has tied me down like a colt. I receive deliverance and victory over every situation, circumstances , system, and force that has tied me to the same spot unable to move forward. I break the chains of stagnation and I break loose from the shackles and cycle of inertia in my life and family in the name of Jesus.

I bring down the prison walls that has encamped me and break the locks at every gate of my breakthrough, all in the name and by the blood of Jesus. I confess my freedom and I decree that I am free indeed because the son of God has set me free. So shall it be in Jesus' name. View this on our Social Media
